PC to Sharp LC-45GD6U

I would like to connect a HTPC to a Sharp LC-45GD6U at the native resolution of 1920 x 1080. I understand that this can be done with the Sharp 45 inch models that have the receiver separate from the LCD display by sharing a direct connection to the LCD with a Gefen switch. Unfortunately, this cannot be done with the Sharp that has the integral receiver.
The maximum resolution that the Sharp accepts via the DVI input is 1280 x 1024. All works well at this resolution.
Does anyone know if it is possible to use the HDMI input with a DVI to HDMI cable and use the 1920 x 1080 resolution ?
Thank you very much.

Robbie
