Availability of HD-DVD Players?

I heard that major hollywood releases will be available in HD-DVD by Christmas of next year, but I haven't heard anything about players. Has any of the major companies annouced when HD-DVD players will be available to buy. I love to start seeing some specs and features and the real question: What's the openning price?

A quick search on google shows information about Thompsom, as well as, some small players, but I haven't heard anything from the major players.

I'm really interested in HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, so if there is another site or a topic on this site that talks about who is releasing what, when, and for how much, I'd love to know about it.

Thanks!

Are major studio releases going to be in both formats? Or are you going to have to buy two players?

It seems as if it will be about 50/50 so yes, you will most likely have to buy two players. I am going to buy an HD DVD and then wait for the PS3.

from the looks of it, if you absolutely have to have the latest and greatest you will need both as most studios are behind one or the other (however, most studios have also said they may put out titles on either -- ie if the other format starts to win).

Given some of issues we're seeing with upconverting dvd players i'm probably going to wait a year or so for the second generation and see if either format is winning or if format war has killed them both
